Business of the Future!

Reflection of an article by Dave Ramsey

I don’t believe we will EVER take out the relationship aspect of people. People buy people, not products.  AND I believe it is the “people” aspect that builds retention too.  With that said, I do believe business is moving more and more to the internet.  Relationships aren’t as authentic via text and email, however I do believe we can use Facebook as a way to connect more!  On a more personal level, here are a couple thoughts I have for anyone that is building a business.  I know anyone joining my team will learn all about this!  First let people know who you are.  Not just in business, but also as a mom, wife, friend, etc…

Your facebook feed tells a story.  What is your story? Are you someone that is caring, loving, honest?  Do you have common hobbies, beliefs and dispositions?  I think Facebook will bridge the gap with this huge technology movement and will allow us to continue to build lasting relationships.  I am a big fan of Facebook groups too to build that “community” within your team.  My background is coaching and teaching, specifically middle level education.  There was such a focus on building community and teambuilding with this age group.  I took the information I was equipped with to build a strong business.  As I read this article by Dave Ramsey, I thought gosh if folks in business and on my team alone really want to take it “To A Whole Notha Level,” they need to create a culture that cares about and LOVES ON one another through the good, the bad and the ugly. It is also imperative as a leader of any group to cast the vision for the team!  Where are we going?  What are we all about, how will the group function, etc…  With that said do you know WHERE you are headed?  Start there. Finally, does your team know how much they matter?  We live in a world that can steal your dreams if you ALLOW it. We need to come together to raise eachother up.  Believe IN one another and dream build together.  We need to be one body that functions collectively for the good of the whole.  Fully edifying, equipping and empowering one another to be the absolute best we can be!  I am so excited about where we are headed.

Take away a few tips from this article and you’ll find your business moving to a Whole Notha Level!

The “BIG MO”

The “BIG MO” Is On Our Side

WOW! What a week and what a time.  We have had 600% growth in the first quarter of 2012.  A growth of this magnitude is bound to bring obstacles as well.  How can anyone prepare for the BIG MO?   Regardless of what is happening I must remain focused on the calling, the hope, the word that has been whispered to me.  I have to say the integrity behind Mark and Cindy, Pam, Mike, Wally and the other Executive Corporate members and It Works! Leaders it is in GOD I place my faith and hope.  Not just in the outcome of It Works! but also life.  My marriage, my children, relationships, finances and more.  The question then becomes do you KNOW who your God is?  Do you know what he is capable of.  If your concept of God is accurate, when you realize that God does not prevent he does in fact permit, how can you do anything but trust in His guidance and Leadership on your life?

This is a strong statement I know.  And we could get into so many things here, but today I choose to place my faith in Jesus Christ.  He has called me to It Works! for such a time as this and I know his plans will not fail me.  AND who knows what “fail” may look like, but I know he has my back…so I step in faith.  Believing in something when it is not so so that it will be so!  That’s where I put my eggs!  And is there FEAR?  Absolutely! But the

Know Who You Are

I love our company’s tag line,

Take It To A Whole. Notha. Level!”

I am such a big believer in WINNING and having a WINNING mindset and WINNING actions that we have to look at the core of having a WINNING attitude!  What lies at the core is a WINNING belief level.  No matter what you do in life if you want to succeed or do it well you have to become an expert!  Becoming an expert will truly help you raise your belief in whatever it is you are doing.  When you raise your belief you raise your confidence which will in turn raise your commitment.  When your commitment and belief level is high YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!

In regards to It Works! Global, I believe it’s imperative to get connected with our community!  Know the people you are in business with and you’ll raise your level of confidence in the team, which includes not only distributors in the field but corporate members as well!  Plug into conference calls, attend events, read about our industry and our market!  Be a product of the product and be a student of the industry!  Implementing a few of these strategies will begin raising not only your personal belief, but in others’ belief in you!  You’ll glow with confidence and others will see it resonating in you!  For those that are new to the team and industry it is critical that we transfer our belief as we “teach” them to get involved and become students of this industry themselves.  Notice I am not saying, “Wait until you feel like an expert to get started.”  I am saying, “d=Dive in! Go ALL in.” Learn as much as you can about what you are doing.  A good rule of thumb is to spend 1/3 of you time building NEW business, 1/3 of your time working with the team you have (training, building, mentoring), and 1/3 of your time

“People Move People. Products Don’t Move People.”

My new book,  People Buy You, by Jeb Blount, about jumped off the display at me as I was passing by the Newstand running from one plane to the next.  I don’t know if it’s because I was  meant to read it or that is WHAT I BELIEVE TO THE CORE.  I have been in the Direct Sales industry for six years now.  WOW has the time flown.  I couldn’t agree more with the statement that “People move people.  Products don’t move people.”  My business coach and mentor, Bob Goshen has coined this.  I think that was a big reason I was so drawn to him and Kaye.  I have had people skills since as far back as I can remember.  My dad has always been a people person and has had this ability to relate to nearly anyone in any situation.  It’s been something I’ve always admired about him.  It’s a gift for sure.  We all have the ability to serve each other, listen well and follow through.  I think it might be called caring.

I realize now as I am in the people industry that each and every one of us have unique skills and

“To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required”

“To whom much is given, much is required.” Luke 12:48.

I got a call from our CEO the evening our checks were posted to congratulate Nathan and I on our BIG earnings.  I was literally shaking when he revealed what our income had jumped to.  My first reaction is NO WAY!  How?  An error has been made, etc..  Pinch me!

All I could think was “How can this be Lord?”  And I remembered what the bible said, To whom much is given, much is required…” Let me just add that I am a perfectionist so a command like this is setting the bar high.  And so I first stopped and gave the credit to whom it was from.  I asked that he show me, what next.  I often feel so unworthy of the calling…but I think of the 12 disciples, a bunch of misfits, and yet they were the CHOSEN ones to follow Jesus.  Learn from him…be witness to his life and miracles and after he died on the cross they were called to share the GOOD NEWS!  I can just imagine how they felt.  “ME?  Im a fisherman not a public speaker.” or “Lord, I just betrayed you not even 72 hours ago…” I’ll tell you this so many times, the farther I am from my comfort zone the more I grow.  The more I stay in thankfulness and humility the more REAL this all becomes.

So now, what is required?  Well I’m not sure what the whole story will look like, but for now I want to give to a few groups I have felt the need to support.  Some of us support with our time, some in prayer and some with finances!  Of the resources you have been given, how are you using them to Glorify God?  I have a challenge for all you IWG Distributors and loyal readers.  Whether your check was $25 or $250,000, how will you bless others through the blessings you have received?  Maybe again it’s freedom over your schedule to volunteer, finances to give or influence to share with others!  How will YOU make a difference?  Don’t assume you know what is required…  Ask Him!

Attitude of Gratitude

I so often talk on the power of your belief.  I also am a big believer in the power of the tongue!  When I read this excerpt today I thought “well said Joel!”  I travel and work with various groups and team members I so often find that their speech and belief is one of defeat.  I dig further into their patterns of comparing and negativity to only find a lack of confidence and/or belief. Often times the response I get is, “I always live in gratitude” when in actuality this just isn’t so.  We have a tendency to let outside factors weigh us down and get us into negative patterns of thinking and speaking.  If you don’t think you struggle with this I challenge you to ask 3 of your closest friends if you are one who lives in an “Attitude of Gratitude”  Your friends closest to you will be honest.  If you find you aren’t as positive as you had thought… begin a journal today!  Spend 2-5 minutes counting your blessings, focusing not just on your current life and position but where you are headed.  AND then challenge yourself to pour into others.  Encourage 1 person a day!  AND if you really want to take it to a “Whole Notha Level,” start with those who challenge you….your enemies if you will!

Today Is The Day

Have you ever heard, “God makes all things new.”  When I read the email below from Joel and Victoria that is what really stuck out in my mind.  I thought how often we don’t believe God can or will make all things new.  Work all things out for our good!  I think about when our company changes systems that have been in place for several months, years and the NEW is uncomfortable.  Or perhaps you are doing the same diet every year with little to no noticeable result. Because it is comfortable we tend to not look forward, toward the future for what is in store.

28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind,[a] he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

–Matthew 14:28-32.
Here is my personal challenge to you. Today is the day! Get out of your BOAT.  Whatever it is.  With anything we can’t just read about it,

“A Dream Without Action Only Equals a Fantasy”

T H E   D R E A M

“A dream without action only equals a fantasy. A fantasy has very little value. One must attach feet to the fantasy, the goals– to make it a reality. “

–Bob Goshen

I love how our entire Business Plan and Steps to Success are centered around The Dream.  When you get started with us for $99 you are making the best investment; you are investing in you.

Mark Pentecost, CEO of IWG always notes, “Nobody cares more about your finances than you do!”  What do you want?  What do you hope to accomplish through your IWG business?  Do you want enough money every month to pay for private schooling for your children?  What would you do with an extra $300 each month?  Would it be enough to pay for someone to clean your house so you can spend extra time with your family?  How about $599?  Would you pay down your mortgage?  Get a new car?  Save for a family vacation?  How about $10,000 a month?  Would you quit your job?  Or would you experience a complete lifestyle change?  No matter what your number is I want to encourage you to DREAM BIG.  What would make the difference for you and your family to really change your family’s future for generations to come?

I love the DREAM BUILDING we do with IWG.  Where else do you see people dreaming and accomplishing their dreams?
